HISTORY — THE ORIGIN OF COMMONX

CommonX began in 2024 as an unexpected collaboration between two lifelong Pacific Northwesterners: Ian Primmer and Jared Mayzak.

The story started when Ian — a Spokane-area creator and Gen X storyteller — grew a dedicated following on TikTok through his honest commentary, humor, and unapologetically authentic daily reflections. His “GENXDAD” persona rapidly built momentum, eventually securing a place in TikTok’s Content Creator program after surpassing 10,000 followers. The response to his content revealed a hunger for meaningful conversation that existed outside algorithm-driven noise.

Around the same time, Jared — a thoughtful communicator, business leader, and advocate for veterans, community members, and civil discourse — had been working behind the scenes in leadership and service roles. Known for his calm presence, analytical mind, and genuine compassion, Jared shared Ian’s desire for conversations that went beyond surface-level social media exchanges.

In July 2024, the two met, talked, and realized they shared a vision: a space where real conversations could happen without filters, political shouting matches, or performative theatrics. They wanted a show that represented the spirit of Generation X — honesty, grit, music, humor, skepticism, and heart.

Curb Fail Productions, the creative umbrella behind the show, was formed shortly afterward. From a makeshift recording setup in Deer Park, WA, the earliest CommonX episodes were raw, unpolished, and deeply human — recorded late at night after long workdays, or on weekends between family responsibilities and everyday life.

Season 1 launched soon after, building momentum fast.
Over 41 episodes, the show expanded beyond its early format and attracted guests spanning music, politics, paranormal research, law enforcement, military intelligence, authorship, and community activism. Each conversation deepened the show’s identity: relatable, unfiltered, and fearless.

By late 2024 and into 2025, CommonX had begun to establish itself as more than a podcast. It became a movement centered on:

  • mental health awareness

  • suicide prevention

  • fitness and discipline

  • unity against division

  • veteran support

  • PNW community outreach

  • storytelling

  • generational identity

Ian’s personal fitness transformation became a defining pillar of the brand — a real-time demonstration of discipline, resilience, and lifestyle change. Meanwhile, Jared’s Industrial hemp and Agriculture advocacy and thoughtful approach gave the show credibility and emotional grounding.

Together, they built a platform that resonated deeply with Gen X and younger audiences alike.
Their mission expanded with ambitious ideas like the Woodstock 2030 Revival, Industrial Hemp Processing of America, the PNW Events community guide, and growing speaking engagements across the Pacific Northwest.

Today, CommonX stands as a growing media presence and a regional cultural voice — driven by two hosts whose lived experiences, authenticity, and chemistry continue to attract listeners, viewers, creators, and community members from across the country.
